SANITARY SIGHT GLASS

Tri-Clamp Sight Glass (SG-100) — Sanitary Sight Glass for Hygienic Process Lines

SIGHTSPEC SG-100 tri-clamp sight glasses give you a clear, continuous view of product inside sanitary piping — without the dead legs and crevices where bacteria hide. A borosilicate window to DIN 7080 and a 304/316L stainless body with tri-clamp ferrule ends make it the go-to sanitary sight glass for pharmaceutical, food, beverage and biotech lines that run CIP/SIP cleaning and demand full material traceability.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

A Dead-Leg-Free Window Into Your Process

In hygienic processing, every pocket and crevice is a risk. The SG-100 is engineered around a seamless tri-clamp ferrule design, so the sight glass adds no internal ledges where product can collect and biofilm can form. The window sits flush with the bore, giving operators a full, unobstructed view of level, color, clarity and mixing — without opening the line, losing pressure or breaking the sterile boundary. Because it mounts with a standard tri-clamp, it installs in minutes on existing sanitary pipework and is easy to remove for inspection and window replacement.

  • Zero dead-leg tri-clamp design for hygienic lines
  • Replaceable borosilicate window to DIN 7080
  • 304/316L stainless body; Hastelloy or Duplex on request
  • USP Class VI, BPE-compliant, FDA-compliant materials
  • Optional heated anti-fog and LED illumination
  • OEM/ODM sizes from 1/2"–12" (DN15–DN300)

SPECIFICATIONS

SG-100 Technical Specifications

Standard ratings follow published sanitary sight glass practice. The final configuration — window material, seal and body metal — should be confirmed against your media, temperature and pressure.

CONFIGURATIONS

Three Configurations, One Reliable Window

Every SG-100 shares the same hygienic ferrule body and DIN 7080 window platform. Pick the configuration that matches your viewing conditions — or combine options for heated, illuminated duty.

The workhorse

SG-100 Standard

The base configuration for most sanitary lines: a polished tri-clamp ferrule body, DIN 7080 borosilicate window and food-grade seal. Choose it when you need a reliable, low-maintenance view port on water, product, CIP solution and utility lines.

  • Zero dead-leg ferrule design
  • Borosilicate or soda-lime window
  • Quick clamp-on install and removal
See into dark tanks

SG-100-L Illuminated

Adds a compact LED illumination port so operators can inspect product level, color and flow in dark vessels and unlit skids without opening the line. Ideal for mixing tanks, buffer vessels and storage where ambient light never reaches the window.

  • LED light integrated into the ferrule
  • Low-voltage, long-life lamp
  • Works with standard and heated windows
Clear windows, every batch

SG-100-H Heated Anti-Fog

A low-voltage heater keeps the glass above the dew point, stopping condensation fog on steam, hot CIP or high-humidity lines. The result is a window that stays readable through the full cycle — batch after batch.

  • Anti-fog heating for hot and humid duty
  • Keeps vision clear through CIP/SIP cycles
  • Available with illumination on request

APPLICATIONS

Where the SG-100 Is Specified

The SG-100 earns its place wherever a hygienic connection standard is required and operators need eyes on the process. It is a standard sight glass choice for vessels, transfer lines and process skids in the industries below — each with its own inspection routines and cleaning cycles.

FAQ

Tri-Clamp Sight Glass FAQ

What is the difference between a sight glass and a sight flow indicator?+

A sight glass is a window that lets you see liquid level, color and general condition inside a vessel or pipe. A sight flow indicator (such as our SG-200) adds an internal element — a flapper, rotor, drip tube or ball — that visibly moves with flow so you can confirm flow direction and rate at a glance. If you only need a view, the SG-100 is the right choice; if you need proof of flow, look at the SG-200.

Can the SG-100 handle CIP and SIP cleaning?+

Yes. The SG-100 is designed for hygienic lines and is built from USP Class VI / FDA-compliant materials with a dead-leg-free tri-clamp design, so it tolerates routine CIP and SIP cycles. Note that the glass window is a wear item: inspect it during maintenance and replace it if it develops chips, cracks or etching from aggressive cleaning.

What are the maximum temperature and pressure ratings?+

The SG-100 is rated up to 572°F (300°C) and from full vacuum to 230 psi (1.6 MPa). The practical limit on any given installation depends on the window material, seal and body metal you select — send us your media, temperature and pressure and we will confirm the correct configuration.

Can you make custom sizes or OEM-branded sight glasses?+

Yes. We manufacture SG-100 in the standard 1/2"–12" (DN15–DN300) range and can build custom ferrule lengths, special finishes and OEM-marked units. Custom projects go through our OEM/ODM process — see our OEM/ODM service page for how it works.

Is the glass replaceable if it breaks or fogs?+

Yes, and we recommend planning for it. The borosilicate window is a replaceable component, not a permanent part. Keep a spare window kit on site, and replace the window if you see chips, cracks or permanent etching. For recurring fogging, choose the heated anti-fog configuration instead of relying on frequent cleaning.
