Sight Glass for Food & Beverage Processing
Hygienic visual monitoring for transfer lines, tanks and CIP circuits — without breaking the seal of your process.
Hygienic & Dead-Leg-Free Design
Sanitary tri-clamp sight glasses with no crevices or dead legs where product can linger. Electropolished 316L bodies to Ra ≤ 0.4 µm meet 3-A and EHEDG-style expectations for food-contact surfaces.
CIP / SIP Compatible
Sight glasses in food lines must survive caustic and acid cleaning cycles. Borosilicate glass and EPDM/silicone gaskets resist CIP chemicals, while fused-glass windows handle the thermal shock of alternating hot product and cold washdown.
Visual Quality Checks Without Line Breaks
Operators confirm product color, clarity, separation and flow rate at a glance — without opening the line and risking contamination. Add an LED illuminator for dark or opaque products like juices, syrups and oils.
Where Sight Glasses Go in a Food Plant
| Location | Glass | Connection | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Transfer lines | Borosilicate | Tri-clamp 1.5"–4" | Inline flow visibility |
| Mixing / blending tanks | Borosilicate or soda-lime | Tri-clamp or weld-in | Level & mixing observation |
| Pasteurizers / heat exchangers | Borosilicate (high temp) | Tri-clamp, clamp-ferrule | Product clarity at temperature |
| CIP return lines | Borosilicate | Tri-clamp | Visual cleanliness confirmation |
| Filling / packaging lines | Soda-lime (low temp) | Tri-clamp small bore | Drip & flow checks |

Food & Beverage FAQs
Is your sight glass FDA / food-contact compliant?
Yes. Our SG-100 tri-clamp sight glasses use USP Class VI / FDA-compliant borosilicate glass with EPDM, silicone or PTFE gaskets, in 316L stainless steel housings with hygienic surface finishes.
Can it handle hot product and cold washdown cycles?
Borosilicate glass is thermal-shock resistant to 572°F (300°C), which covers pasteurization and most hot-fill processes. For extreme temperature swings, specify a fused (METAGLAS-style) window or quartz glass.
Do you offer illuminated sight glasses for dark products?
Yes — the SG-100-L version adds a 24V LED illuminator that lights the viewing area for dark or opaque products such as juice concentrates, syrups and edible oils.
What gasket material should I use for CIP?
EPDM is the standard food-industry choice (caustic-resistant), silicone suits higher temperatures, and PTFE resists the widest chemical range. We supply all three and help you match the media.
